Inktober warm up.

Inktober is just around the corner, and I am trying to get myself ready for it.
I've been sketching with various pens a lot lately, trying to get myself to make more confident lines and less scratching it out. I tried doing a base sketch with a grey brush pen to try and work out the pose before diving in, then I went over the top with different pens and darker grey markers. You can probably see the leg where I decided it looked like shit and that I needed to do something different with it. One of the purposes of Inktober and drawing in ink is to be more confident with drawing and to not have as much attachment to a drawing. If you mess it up it's messed up for good. But that's ok, because you can just redraw it anyway. Which in the long run is better because that way you get more drawing mileage. It's better to have 25 messed up drawings done than one "perfect" drawing, mainly because after doing 25 imperfect drawings you'll be able to draw the "perfect" drawing even better.

Anyway. I work with traditional a lot more these days because I don't have a computer space set up, I'm living on a small solar power system so if the weather is shitty I don't have a lot of excess power to use, and it's a pain in the ass to be constantly setting up and packing up my Cintiq. I get sad thinking about it sitting there in it's cover not getting used, but on the plus side all this traditional drawing it strengthening my drawing ability and those times when I do pull out my tablet to draw, I draw so much better on it.
