Watercolours.

The scan washed it out a little.

There are some very interesting concepts in this one

Cheers man! I sort of started painting it was no sketch or anything, just working out how the water colours worked. I feel like maybe redoing the concept, but with a bit more planning or something. It'd probably turn out worse though knowing me.

Sometimes extra planning makes things less organic
all you'd need to do is crop it to be more balanced imo, you could go to town on it in photoshop after that of course though :D

I completely get what you're saying man. But also I feel that a lot of my work is "first draft", like, the scrappy concept that shouldn't actually get shown around. I feel a lot of the times that if I spent a bit of time refining an idea before just shitting it onto the page, then I'd make better art. BUT, that said I'd probably never get the same energy trying to redo this piece because I really was just painting and letting forms take their own shape and eventually this happened. I left it alone for about two day before going back at it with coloured pencils to try and define a few areas that I thought I wanted to stand out more. Think I might of over worked it really.... but no ctrl-z irl so I have to live with my choices I guess. Don't know if I really could be bothered to digitally touch it up.

Sorry to reply so late to this, I guess it depends on personal preference then. I find if I plan and think to much on some ideas before hand, they become intimidating and I take much longer to finish them D:

I can completely relate to thinking something through till it becomes convoluted and intimidating. I think I was more talking about that I need to just think about things a little more than I currently do, like at least do a few thumbnails first, as it may eliminate doing bad or boring compositions.... maybe. I don't know, to be honest I couldn't be bothered rereading what I'd originally wrote because it's tl:dr. =D

Very cool! I need to scan some washes or something, they're so flow-ey and neat

Thanks man!

Dooo iiiiiit! I'm really starting to get into watercolour and inks. It's stuff I've always wanted to do, but I've been scared of it for something reason. But now I'm like "eh, fuck it" and just going for it I'm finding an expression I've never gotten from digital.... just wish I actually had a scanner at home. =S

It might be worth it to just get a bunch of pictures scanned in bulk at an office supply store or something, I think they're cheap-ish haha

I would........... but I live in a little village, and we only have a pub, a corner store, and a resource centre which is primarily a post office (which is where I do my scanning but it's hard to control colour correction and stuff without my own software). It's a pretty long way to travel to a larger town to do some scanning. I'll buy an A3 scanner when I build my house and have somewhere to put it. =)
